We are currently seeking a Rail Transit Engineer in Training (EIT) to support our Southern California Transportation division in the design and planning of public transit initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess experience in rail transit projects within the region and demonstrate a foundational understanding of federal, state, and local regulations, as well as project delivery processes from initial design through to construction support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Managers and Engineers in the development of track and civil engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Manage civil and track engineering tasks, including drainage, structural, and utility assignments.
- Create design criteria, project documentation, and meeting notes while supporting the Project Manager.
- Work autonomously on smaller projects or collaborate with senior engineers on larger assignments.
- Provide guidance to clerical and technical staff as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Basic familiarity with InRoads/InRail, OpenRailDesigner, and/or Civil3D.
- Experience utilizing InRoads/InRail, OpenRail Designer, and/or Civil3D.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in rail or transportation design.
- Candidates without an EIT will be designated as Rail Transit Designers and are expected to pursue EIT for career advancement.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Local candidates are preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Basic knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Experience with MS Office applications.
- A strong interest in railroad design.
