About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Tax Director to lead our global tax controversy efforts. As a key member of our tax team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of US and global tax controversy matters, including audits, appeals, and litigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead US federal tax audits, including managing day-to-day interactions with the IRS.
  • Develop and implement strategies to resolve examinations, appeals, and litigation matters, working closely with the CFO, tax team, and external counsel.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to assess audit risk, establish or update tax positions, and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex US, international, and transfer pricing matters.
  • Support global tax controversy matters, ensuring coordination and consistency across jurisdictions.
  • Develop strategies and process improvements to identify, quantify, and track global tax risks.
  • Manage and oversee other professionals working on global tax audits in a matrixed environment.
  • Provide direction to global tax planning, transfer pricing, and compliance teams to minimize risk and enhance audit readiness.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of tax experience in a complex, global environment.
  • JD/LLM and admission to at least one state bar strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental US and international tax and transfer pricing concepts.
  • Experience managing US federal tax audits and appeals required; exposure to US state and non-US audits preferred.
  • Experience managing other professionals preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex legal and tax concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize numerous projects and competing deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and tax authorities across the globe.
