Overview

The Senior Tax Analyst with a specialization in State and Local Tax (SALT) plays a crucial role in managing both direct and indirect tax compliance for state and local jurisdictions. This position involves overseeing the tax provision process, addressing state and local tax inquiries, and executing various projects as required within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

The essential duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering exceptional service to physician partners through comprehensive K-1 tax reporting.
  • Coordinating with external advisors to facilitate the outsourced compliance process for state and local tax returns, ensuring timely submissions and adherence to all relevant filing requirements.
  • Reviewing tax returns and supporting documentation for corporations and partnerships prepared by external consultants.
  • Calculating quarterly estimated state and local income taxes for various entities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of state and local tax extensions and associated payments.
  • Contributing to the tax provision process.
  • Conducting thorough technical tax research for compliance, provision, and special projects.
  • Preparing and reviewing detailed tax workpapers.
  • Identifying opportunities for process enhancements within the tax department.
  • Engaging in tax data automation projects utilizing tools such as Excel, Alteryx, and Tableau.
  • Collaborating with internal teams (accounting, legal, IT) to gather necessary information for tax initiatives.
  • Addressing state and local tax notices effectively.
  • Supporting additional indirect tax responsibilities, including sales and use tax and property tax.
  • Assisting in governmental tax audits by compiling information and drafting necessary responses.
  • Researching and evaluating state and local regulatory changes and their implications for the organization.
  • Analyzing the state and local tax consequences of various business transactions.
  • Providing assistance for special projects and processes within the tax department, including federal tax matters.
