Position Overview:

As a Lead Ophthalmic Technician, you will be an essential support to our physicians. You will receive cross-training to handle a variety of administrative and clinical responsibilities. The Lead Ophthalmic Technician will be more involved in patient care, assisting the physician during and after examinations, including support with minor surgical procedures and comprehensive documentation following appointments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and assist patients upon arrival.
  • Support the physician in patient care and minor surgical tasks.
  • Conduct vision and ocular assessments, clearly explaining procedures to patients.
  • Record examination details and physician observations in the electronic health record.
  • Ensure patients fully understand all provided instructions.
  • Mentor and train junior technicians.
  • Prepare, maintain, and sanitize treatment areas and ophthalmic equipment.
  • Report any equipment issues promptly.
  • Conduct ancillary testing and accurately document results.
  • Administer medications in accordance with compliance standards.
  • Manage inventory and assist with the maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and listening abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or specialized ophthalmic experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) is preferred or enrollment within twelve (12) months of hire, with completion within two (2) years.
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) is required or to be completed within 45 days of hire.
Work Schedule:
  • Rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Hourly Compensation:
  • $27.50.
