Position Overview:

The Amentum Aviation Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and modification of aircraft structures and components of varying complexity. This role involves maintaining and repairing various aircraft systems, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize technical expertise in airframe and power plant systems to diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore operational condition.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on all assigned aircraft, including daily inspections and flight line checks.
  • Perform thorough inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
  • Provide personal hand tools for aircraft maintenance, with specialized tools and testing equipment supplied by Amentum.
  • Occasionally lead teams in executing complex aircraft-related tasks.
  • Document maintenance activities in aircraft logs and records as required.
  • Effectively prioritize workload and manage schedules for assigned projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a background investigation clearance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid airframe and power plant mechanic (A&P) certificate is essential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in the maintenance and repair of airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems, and aircraft engines.
  • Broad understanding of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair techniques.
  • Familiarity with military and general aviation aircraft logbooks is required.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory is necessary.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of specialized aircraft tools, including test equipment and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to adhere to base, federal, and company protocols for hazardous waste management.
  • Proficiency in office software applications, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, for effective communication.
  • Capability to meet deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Strong command of the English language for reading, writing, and following instructions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform aircraft mechanic duties effectively.
  • Capability to navigate within the aircraft and meet specific weight limits.
  • Physical stamina to stand, squat, sit, and work with arms overhead for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in high noise environments, necessitating appropriate hearing protection.
