Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grocery Department Manager to join our team at Harris Teeter. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Grocery Department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise a team of up to 25 associates in the Grocery Department, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service and efficient department operations.
  • Assist in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Grocery Department, including planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Interview, train, and develop associates to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Appraise performance, provide feedback, and make recommendations for promotions or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Address customer complaints and resolve problems in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with other department managers to achieve store-wide goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two to three years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with associates, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business administration or management.
  • Experience working in a retail or grocery environment, with a focus on customer service and sales growth.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and ability to analyze sales data to inform business decisions.
