Position Overview:

The Lead Retail Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in managing and executing all facets of store operations and merchandising in collaboration with the Store Manager. This position is integral to driving business performance through effective team coaching and leadership. Key focus areas include enhancing sales and profitability, managing expenses, executing promotional strategies, overseeing store management, fostering team development, and ensuring an outstanding customer experience. This role is designed to facilitate succession planning and support company growth, with the expectation that the Lead Supervisor will be prepared to transition into a Store Manager role within a specified timeframe should an opportunity arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and prioritizes exceptional Customer Service in both physical and online shopping environments.
  • Welcomes every customer with enthusiasm, maintaining a positive and proactive demeanor at all times.
  • Engages proactively with customers, interpreting their needs and responding effectively.
  • Informs customers about current promotions and product offerings to assist in their purchasing decisions.
  • Suggests complementary products to enhance the customer's shopping experience.
  • Fosters a supportive, enjoyable, and engaging work atmosphere for the team while ensuring a great shopping experience for customers.
  • Upholds the company's branding by treating all customers and colleagues with respect and professionalism, working towards a shared objective.
  • Accountable for driving profitable sales, safeguarding company assets, and adhering to company policies in support of the Store Manager.
  • Monitors store performance metrics and tracks the achievement of goals and benchmarks.
  • Utilizes objective business analysis to inform decisions in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Identifies trends and underlying issues to develop effective solutions.
  • Engages in networking and recruitment within the local market to ensure adequate staffing levels and recommends sound hiring decisions to the Store Manager.
  • Builds high-performing teams capable of achieving company objectives and fosters productive relationships across the organization.
  • Encourages accountability among team members for both individual and collective performance.
  • Communicates strategies, changes, and business opportunities clearly and compellingly to the store team.
  • Supports store initiatives that align with company strategies and takes proactive measures to address these opportunities.
  • Implements changes in initiatives and direction in a timely manner to drive results.
  • May require occasional travel to other store locations for support as needed.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the core values of Kirkland's.
  • May perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred college education or 1-3 years of experience in a retail setting.
  • Willingness to relocate for a Store Manager position is preferred.
  • Dynamic, results-driven, and competitive with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Ability to interpret safety regulations, operational guidelines, and procedural manuals.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week based on business needs.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to handle and transport company funds securely.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capability to ascend/descend ladders for product retrieval and display.
  • Frequent movement around the store to assist customers and manage merchandise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers in various formats.
  • Physical capability to move merchandise weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Efficient operation of Point of Sale systems and related devices.
