Victory Human Services Inc. is in search of Relief Residential Counselors to deliver essential support to individuals residing in Specialized Home Care. This role encompasses assisting with daily living activities, promoting health and wellness, achieving Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectives, and facilitating social and recreational opportunities while ensuring compliance with all necessary documentation and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide skilled shift coverage, including weekends and awake overnight shifts as directed by supervisory staff.
- Implement treatment strategies, including Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and clinical programs; gather behavioral and academic data; and maintain accurate log entries.
- Instruct clients in daily living skills, including safety protocols, travel training, financial management, cooking, shopping, personal hygiene, and maintaining personal spaces.
- Offer supportive counseling to clients regarding personal, social, and daily life challenges.
- Assist in the creation and execution of program activities that encourage client growth, development, and a healthy lifestyle.
- Manage medication administration, ensuring proper storage, documentation, and disposal in accordance with Department of Public Health regulations.
- Provide training to clients on self-medication techniques and assist with medication administration as needed.
- Respond to behavioral or medical emergencies with appropriate physical intervention and first aid, adhering to emergency protocols.
- Accompany clients to various appointments and leisure activities using public transportation or agency vehicles.
- Support crisis assessment and intervention efforts as required.
- Assist in orienting new staff members, including relief personnel.
- Deliver specialized training to clients and colleagues on assigned topics, which may include roles such as HIV Officer, Medication Officer, or Safety Officer.
- Ensure that the required staff-to-client ratio is consistently maintained.
- Be prepared to cover shifts in emergencies, such as inclement weather or staff absences.
- Maintain essential program documentation, including fire drill records, emergency reports, and daily logs.
- Participate in weekly meetings with staff and supervisors as required.
- Foster ongoing communication with the Program Manager and other residential staff to address clinical and operational matters.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory standards.
- Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures, including safety practices and exposure control measures.
- Support clients with housekeeping tasks and perform designated maintenance duties as assigned.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and ensure a safe driving record.
- Take responsibility for the upkeep of agency vehicles and accurately maintain vehicle logs.
- Follow all safety protocols and perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
- Attend mandatory training sessions, including orientation and in-service training.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with clients, care providers, and community members.
- Capacity to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong documentation and communication skills, along with demonstrated organizational abilities.
- Physical capability to assist clients with mobility impairments and navigate multiple floors.
- Preferred: Department of Public Health certification in medication administration (MAP).
- Required: First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the company's insurance criteria.
- An acceptable criminal record assessment (CORI) is necessary.
- A degree in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent experience in a human services setting is preferred.
