Position Summary: The Mortgage Compliance Specialist will offer expertise on relevant local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves active participation in process implementation and support for the Consumer Lending division. The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of mortgage lending regulations and ensure that regulatory updates are seamlessly integrated into daily operations. A thorough examination of compliance issues will help identify trends and errors, leading to the facilitation of remedial training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and validate HMDA reporting data within the origination system.
  • Conduct accuracy checks and oversee the annual submission of the HMDA LAR.
  • Perform quality control reviews for both pre-funding and post-closing of originated and non-originated loans.
  • Review and update based on the monthly New/Existing Customer CIP Exception report results.
  • Identify trends and errors through quality assessments and implement corrective training to mitigate future issues.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance-related concerns on loan files.
  • Collaborate with Production and Servicing teams to provide compliance guidance.
  • Support strategic initiatives as a subject matter expert during project development.
  • Monitor changes in local, state, and federal regulations and assist in implementing new compliance requirements.
  • Facilitate internal and external audits and assist in corrective actions based on examination findings.
  • Update and revise all Consumer Lending reports, procedures, and documentation.
  • Assist the Secondary Market Department with loan purchase reviews as necessary.
  • Ensure timely updates of Indexes and Disclosures on a regular basis.

Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below reflect the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Education and Experience: An Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience and/or training.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Comprehensive understanding of consumer lending products and services.
  • Ability to articulate complex loan policies and terms clearly.
  • Knowledge of compliance laws, regulations, risks, and frameworks related to Mortgage Originations, including Regulation Z, ECOA, CRA, HMDA, and Agency Requirements (e.g., FHA/VA).
  • Capability to work both collaboratively and independently within a complex organizational structure.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software applications.
