This role involves directing maintenance teams in the installation, repair, and preventive upkeep of equipment utilized throughout the facility, including utilities and powerhouse machinery. You will oversee maintenance processes to minimize mechanical downtime and ensure optimal product flow and production line efficiency.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead teams of Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians in predictive and preventive maintenance as well as machinery repairs.
  • Responsible for the creation, execution, and daily oversight of maintenance systems, processes, and documentation linked to efficient and high-performing manufacturing operations (including Prevention and Predictive Maintenance, TPM, SOPs, Safety, etc.).
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are scheduled promptly and collaborate closely with Production to plan and execute equipment and facility repairs.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators to monitor and report on maintenance performance (including supplier performance, third-party contractor performance, equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness, etc.).
  • Provide long-term solutions and daily support to all operational teams facing troubleshooting, problem analysis, and equipment failure challenges.
  • Train employees on appropriate work methods and safety protocols.
  • Ensure all tasks comply with USDA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory.
  • Provide regular updates to the maintenance management team.
  • In the absence of key personnel, the supervisor or a qualified designee is responsible for completing or delegating all necessary tasks and responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or a related field, along with 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a leadership role, providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff or managing a process or project.
  • Advanced technical skills in ammonia refrigeration, high-pressure boilers, compressed air, and mechanical and electrical fields (e.g., PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering, etc.), with a preference for leading resource planning efforts in a large manufacturing setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, inventory, and scheduling software is preferred.
  • Strong leadership capabilities (including conflict resolution, facilitation, change management, decision-making, empowerment, and delegation) are preferred.
  • Ability to lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts related to complex process issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while fostering strong working relationships and a positive work atmosphere.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
  • May be required to work extended hours and weekends.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to employees within the Maintenance Department.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assisting in providing appropriate resolutions.

  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
