Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Business Manager to join our team at the Performing Arts Center. The successful candidate will have a strong background in contract administration, union relations, and budget management.

The Business Manager will be responsible for creating and maintaining contract templates, reviewing and approving complex contracts, and acting as the primary liaison with external counsel and insurance agents. They will also be responsible for managing requirements of TMC Arts union agreements and creating and maintaining training documents related to these obligations.

In addition, the Business Manager will research and administer rights, licenses, and clearances for live and digital productions, communicate rights internally, and track compliance. They will also schedule management, including maintaining the TMC Arts Program Calendar, acting as the primary schedule communicator to TMC Scheduling & Events, and obtaining space requests from departmental program managers.

The Business Manager will work closely with the Producing Department, Finance Department, and other internal departments to ensure the smooth operation of our programs and events. They will also supervise the Producing Department Coordinator and Production Assistants on a per-project basis and recruit, manage, and train part-time staff as needed.

Qualifications include 7 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and demonstrated experience with larger scale performing arts institutions and administrative practices, including familiarity with union contracts, institutional budgeting, and stage production and management.

The Business Manager must be a team player with strong communication skills and attention to detail, able to think through complex requests and use logic and reason to develop and propose solutions. They must also be resourceful and self-directed, able to manage and complete multiple tasks on varying projects with tight deadlines.
