Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Volunteer Program Manager to join our team at HOSPICE OF EL PASO, INC. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing, supervising, and coordinating the successful completion of all volunteer department activities and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Volunteer Recruitment and Management
  • Recruit, interview, screen, and train incoming volunteers to ensure they are equipped to provide exceptional support to our patients and families.
  • Supervise and coordinate volunteer assignments, working closely with our staff to identify patient and family needs for volunteer services.
Volunteer Engagement and Retention
  • Maintain regular contact with volunteers, scheduling meetings, in-services, and social events to foster a sense of community and belonging.
  • Ensure volunteers are engaged and motivated, providing opportunities for growth and development.
Volunteer Administration and Reporting
  • Manage volunteer hour documentation, preparing summary reports and submitting them to the Volunteer Manager in a timely manner.
  • Assure prompt submission of volunteer hour documentation and maintain accurate records.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, families, physicians, professionals, and support staff, ensuring seamless coordination of volunteer services.
  • Collaborate with our staff to identify patient and family needs, ensuring volunteer services are tailored to meet those needs.
Professional Development and Compliance
  • Attend in-service education classes, on-the-job training programs, and conferences to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing volunteer issues.
  • Review professional literature and stay up-to-date on industry best practices.
Requirements
  1. Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in volunteer work, including administration, teaching, supervision, and personnel management.
Other
  • Strong presentation and oral communication skills.
  • Able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and auto liability insurance.
  • Possess a personal vehicle available during working hours and access to a telephone at home.
Working Conditions
  1. Works in a well-lighted, ventilated office area.
  2. Subject to frequent interruptions.
  3. Involved with physicians, patients, family members, personnel, visitors, and government agencies under all circumstances.
  4. May be subjected to communicable diseases brought into the work environment by field personnel.
  5. Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc.
  6. May be required to work beyond normal working hours, weekends, holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  7. Exposure level: Category III- Tasks/activities do not entail predictable or unpredictable exposure to blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply.
Physical Requirements
  1. Physically fit and able to work in a variety of settings and locations, primarily in a well-lighted, ventilated office area.
  2. Sit, bend, lift, and move intermittently during working hours.
  3. Lift and move records and related supplies, not generally to exceed 25 lbs.
  4. Able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  5. Possess sight/hearing senses or uses prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately, so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
