Compensation: $24.50 - $29.75 per hour

Overview

The EHS Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager in the development and execution of EHS programs and systems. This position is essential in fostering a safe and healthy workplace while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of effective EHS programs that comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Support the management of all necessary environmental permits related to facility operations.
  • Provide EHS guidance to management and collaborate with employees at all levels to enhance EHS initiatives.
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of facility equipment and materials, including pollution control technologies.
  • Promptly report potential compliance issues, incidents, or equipment failures to the EHS Manager and relevant supervisors.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports for regulatory agencies as required.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) aimed at minimizing safety and environmental risks.
  • Review and maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database for materials used in manufacturing.
  • Establish and maintain an organized recordkeeping system to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Ensure immediate notification of responsible parties regarding EHS concerns and initiate appropriate actions.
  • Oversee vendors and contractors involved in EHS matters as assigned.
  • Conduct training sessions in both English and Spanish to promote EHS proficiency among associates.
  • Design and deliver EHS training programs to enhance understanding of environmental regulations among employees.
  • Assist in the selection of personal protective equipment (PPE) and manage routine EHS/Medical supplies.
  • Manage fire protection systems, including operation, testing, and documentation, while implementing elements of the fire prevention plan.
  • Support annual property inspections and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain an inventory of fall protection equipment.
  • Assist with spill response and containment as necessary.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessment procedures.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR certification and act as a first responder when required.
  • Accompany associates to medical appointments related to safety as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the EHS Manager.
  • Manage and oversee operations related to paint inventories and associated activities.

  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
