Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading engaging and culturally rich academic, enrichment, and recreation activities for school-aged youth in our after-school program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Design and deliver high-quality programs that promote academic success, character development, and healthy lifestyles for youth.
    • Develop and implement culturally relevant daily lesson plans and activities that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Program Supervision and Safety
    • Supervise and monitor the safety and behavior of youth in the program area, ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
    • Implement discipline techniques and classroom management strategies to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Communicate effectively with youth, parents, staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure seamless program delivery.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement program services and activities that meet the needs of our members.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Perform various administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate program attendance records and submitting them in a timely manner.
    • Assist with daily set-up and clean-up of program materials and equipment.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent required; 48 units of college curriculum or completion of the Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) preferred.
    • Two years of experience working directly with school-aged youth and knowledge of youth development principles preferred.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth; instruct, coach, and direct varied activities.
    • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and internet research.
    • CPR and First Aid Certifications within 30 days of hire.
