Position Overview: Operates under general guidance to deliver medical nutrition therapy for patients.

  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or related field
  • Preferred one year of experience in a clinical environment
  • Registered Dietitian credentialed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and licensed in Texas OR Registered Dietitian credentialed and in the process of obtaining Texas licensure.
  • Must work under the supervision of a licensed and credentialed dietitian while awaiting state approval OR while preparing for examination and credentialing by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Licensure must be obtained within six months of employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gathers nutritional information from patient records and assessment tools.
  • Documents and delivers medical nutrition therapy aimed at disease prevention and management.
  • Creates specialized diet plans for patients needing dietary intervention.
  • Evaluates dietary habits and nutritional health of patients across various life stages.
  • Provides nutritional counseling and education tailored to individual needs.
  • Conducts nutrient analysis utilizing computer software.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and support staff.
  • Consults with the healthcare team regarding the dietary and nutritional requirements of patients.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of nutrition interventions.
  • Develops and updates nutrition education resources.
  • Performs additional tasks as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficient in assessing nutritional health accurately.
  • Capable of providing effective medical nutrition therapy.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Manual dexterity for handling tasks.
  • Physical capability to walk and lift items up to 10 pounds.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Adept in mathematical reasoning and data analysis.
  • Skilled in setting and achieving new objectives.

Work Environment: Primarily office-based.
