Position Overview:

The primary role of the Clinical Nutrition Specialist is to conduct patient evaluations, nutritional assessments, and develop tailored care plans while providing nutrition education to patients and their families. This position involves regular collaboration with medical professionals to ensure optimal nutrition care for patients.

Work Schedule:

Full-time, Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday shifts. Standard working hours are 8X5 Day.

Qualifications:

Preferred experience includes 1-2 years in NICU or acute care settings. Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree that meets academic standards, complete an accredited dietetic internship, and be eligible for the American Dietetic Registration Exam. Alternatively, a Master's Degree with relevant internship experience and clinical nutrition knowledge is acceptable.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Independently assess patients at nutritional risk following established screening protocols.
  2. Conduct timely assessments and reassessments of patient needs in accordance with policy.
  3. Document nutrition interventions accurately and comprehensively.
  4. Develop individualized care plans and recommend additional nutrition therapies as necessary.
  5. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create comprehensive care and discharge plans.
  6. Design educational programs based on patient and family needs assessments.
  7. Effectively communicate dietary requirements and restrictions to patients and families.
  8. Maintain professionalism and respect for the diverse needs of patients and families.
  9. Stay informed about advancements in nutrition and disease management to provide high-quality care.
  10. Participate in monitoring quality indicators related to clinical nutrition.

Licensure and Certification:

Registration with the American Dietetic Association and a license from the Texas Board of Examiners of Dietitians are required, along with ongoing education to maintain these credentials.
