Position Overview: Operates under general oversight to deliver medical nutrition therapy to patients.

  • Bachelor's degree focusing on Dietetics is required.
  • Preferred one year of experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and hold a license as a Dietitian in Texas, or be in the process of obtaining such licensure.
  • Requires supervision by a credentialed and licensed dietitian in Texas during the licensure process.
  • Licensure must be obtained within six months of employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gathers nutritional information from patient medical records and assessment tools.
  • Documents and delivers medical nutrition therapy aimed at disease prevention and management.
  • Creates specialized diet plans for patients needing dietary intervention.
  • Evaluates dietary habits and nutritional health of patients across different life stages.
  • Provides nutrition education and counseling as necessary.
  • Conducts nutrient analysis using computer software.
  • Collaborates with various healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and hospital staff.
  • Consults with healthcare team members regarding the dietary and nutritional requirements of patients.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of nutrition interventions.
  • Develops and updates nutrition education resources.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge to accurately evaluate nutritional health.
  • Ability to deliver suitable medical nutrition therapy.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capable of using hands for typing, handling, or feeling.
  • Ability to walk and lift items weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Ability to apply mathematical reasoning and analyze data/information.
  • Capacity to formulate and execute new objectives or plans.

Work Environment: The role is primarily conducted in an office setting.
