Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor reports directly to the General Manager overseeing the respective site. This role involves planning, preparing, issuing, and managing production schedules while coordinating material requirements to ensure a seamless flow of approved materials aligned with production needs. The supervisor will inform management about the status of ongoing work, material availability, and potential production challenges to guarantee that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are adequately provided. Responsibilities include scheduling equipment and personnel, confirming material supply and demand, and preparing work orders or purchase requests based on a master production schedule, shop load, and inventory necessities. The role also entails coordinating interdepartmental activities with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, and logistics; scheduling and expediting the movement of parts through move orders, stock transfers, and shipping requests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules while coordinating material requirements to ensure a steady flow of approved materials.
  • Keep management informed about the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production issues.
  • Align MRP systems to ensure accurate delivery timing.
  • Manage MRP tools for demand and capacity.
  • Monitor resource utilization for overload issues and collaborate with relevant personnel to resolve through rescheduling, overtime, or other methods.
  • Engage with purchasing, engineering, planning, and other departments to share information regarding inventories, schedules, and related matters.
  • Facilitate the monthly SIOP process, providing senior staff with analytical data and supporting "what-if" scenarios for long-term capacity resolution.
  • Review long-term load utilization for imbalances and collaborate with Contract Administration and Operations to address these issues.
  • Coordinate priorities across customer lines in partnership with the Program Manager and Contract Administrator.
  • Reconcile Syteline APS & Scheduling systems to ensure production flow accuracy.
  • Perform work order maintenance, including splits and quantity changes.
  • Prepare and develop customer shipping dates for the Program Manager.
  • Adhere to general company and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) for select positions.
  • Maintain punctuality, follow supervisor instructions, and foster positive interactions with co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Five to seven years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Syteline experience is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in managing MRP systems and understanding their dynamics. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential. Syteline experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in reading and writing English. Ability to comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Capable of presenting information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Other Skills: Understanding of the Theory of Constraints and working knowledge of Advanced Planning and Scheduling systems.
