Position Overview

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is dedicated to enhancing human comfort, productivity, and safety while promoting environmental sustainability. We are currently seeking a Director of Regulatory Affairs, a pivotal role in shaping and executing energy and environmental regulations.

This position involves collaboration with the AHRI Government Affairs Team to steer AHRI's policy initiatives and synchronize regulatory objectives concerning energy efficiency, environmental impact, climate change, chemical regulations, and decarbonization strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively identifies potential policy and regulatory challenges, providing strategic recommendations to mitigate impacts on AHRI members.
  • Collaborates with AHRI members to establish consensus on key priorities and policy stances.
  • Gathers member feedback and leads the formulation of responses to regulatory proposals affecting the industry.
  • Contributes significantly to the development of AHRI's policy framework, ensuring alignment with both immediate and long-term member needs.
  • Prepares comments, testimonies, white papers, and talking points for use in hearings, agency discussions, and other external communications.
  • Promotes AHRI's policy goals by engaging actively in industry coalitions.
  • Delivers timely responses on AHRI priorities through the creation of comments, letters, and talking points regarding issues pertinent to AHRI members.
  • Establishes recognition as an authority within AHRI and the relevant field.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in public policy, government affairs, political science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five to ten years of experience in energy and environmental sectors, predominantly within a trade association.
Compensation:

AHRI provides a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package, including employer contributions to 401(k) and Roth(k) plans, all within a supportive work environment. The salary range for this role is $125,000 to $160,000.
