Position Overview
You will take on the role of an Attorney Advisor (Military) within the Judge Advocate Divisions (JAD) of the Department of the Navy. Your primary responsibility will be to provide legal counsel and support to senior leadership, including the Commandant and Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps.

Key Responsibilities
- Offer expert advice to the Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, as well as Marine Corps staff judge advocates on all matters related to military personnel law.
- Draft and prepare formal comments, and provide substantive recommendations regarding proposed military personnel legislation.
- Review and respond to requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act, as well as subpoenas and other inquiries related to military personnel matters.
- Stay informed on developments in administrative and military personnel laws, regulations, and policies, including officer appointments, disciplinary matters, and adverse administrative actions.
- Manage the department's operations to ensure the timely and accurate processing, legal review, and tracking of cases.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on officer misconduct processing and related promotion issues.
- Provide legal advisory opinions as requested by the Board of Correction for Naval Records.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must:
- Be a U.S. citizen and suitable for federal employment.
- Participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Hold a J.D. or LL.B from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
- Maintain an active law license in a State or the District of Columbia.

Experience Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. This experience should include:
- Prosecution of complex cases, including the development, implementation, research, analysis, and evaluation of military personnel laws and regulations.

Additional Information
This position may require travel to various locations and may involve remote or isolated sites. Candidates must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods. A government credit card for travel-related purchases will be required, and candidates must obtain and maintain a security clearance prior to entering duty.
