Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Radiology/Imaging Services, the Senior Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality two-dimensional ultrasonic images of internal organs to assist Physicians in diagnosing diseases and assessing organ function. This role involves utilizing advanced technological processes to ensure optimal patient care and diagnostic quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrating exceptional tact and professionalism, explains procedures to patients to alleviate concerns and secure their cooperation.
  • Prepares and positions patients for examinations.
  • Selects appropriate equipment for ultrasound procedures based on examination specifications. Adjusts transducer and equipment controls according to the organ being examined and other test requirements.
  • Operates equipment to generate images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on various media.
  • Manually moves the transducer over the designated area of the body, monitoring the sound wave display to ensure quality imaging.
  • Captures images displayed on the monitor or retrieves printouts to maintain a permanent record of the examination.
  • Inputs test data and patient information into the ultrasound equipment's computer system to preserve test results.
  • Provides orientation and training for new hires.
  • Performs additional related duties as required.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not include supervisory duties.

Basic Qualifications: Experience
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of continuous ultrasound experience within the last six (6) years, with no more than one (1) year gap in experience during the last four (4) years.
Education
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Candidates must have at least three certifications from the following list:
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Pediatric Sonography Certification
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Fetal Echocardiography Certification
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Pediatric Echocardiogram Certificate
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Breast
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn
  • Basic Life Support Certification
Additional Requirements:
  • NT certification is required for performing genetic screening in Prenatal Diagnostic Centers. Candidates may be hired without certification but must obtain it within 90 days of employment.
