Position Overview

The Ultrasound Technologist Level I will operate under indirect supervision, performing a range of diagnostic medical sonograms, including abdominal and OB/Gynecology ultrasound examinations, utilizing advanced ultrasound technology and transducers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic Imaging Goals: Focus on enhancing the turnaround time for outpatient diagnostic imaging reports, collaborating with the Vandever Files Targeted Unit-Based Team (T-UBT) to establish metrics.
  • Service Excellence: Strive to improve telephone response times to meet the regional standard of 80% of incoming calls answered within 2 minutes.
  • Efficiency Initiatives: Contribute to the Bend-the-Trend program by aiming to reduce non-payroll expenses by over 5%.
  • Customer Engagement: Maintain professionalism and a positive demeanor towards members and colleagues, addressing member issues proactively and fostering teamwork.
  • Ethical Standards: Uphold ethical behavior in accordance with organizational policies, demonstrating respect for cultural diversity and lifestyle choices.
  • Operational Competence: Understand and execute the overall functions of the department, including reception and cashier duties, while adhering to safety policies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate skill in operating diagnostic ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality images, selecting appropriate technical factors and settings.
  • Clinical Judgment: Exercise sound clinical judgment, consulting with radiologists or clinicians as necessary, and documenting clinical activities accurately and promptly.
  • Professional Conduct: Exhibit professional maturity in interactions with patients and staff, maintaining good relationships and responding constructively to feedback.
  • Productivity Standards: Meet or exceed productivity norms established within the department.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that equipment and work areas are maintained according to departmental guidelines, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of one year as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center is required.

Education: Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program or a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with current ARDMS certification.

Licensure: Hold a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, with a Basic Life Support certification obtained within four months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center.
  • Familiarity with Acuson Sequoia, Philips iu-22, and Clickview ultrasound reporting systems.
