Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Radiology/Imaging Services, or another Clinical Service Director as applicable, the Senior Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for producing two-dimensional ultrasonic images of internal organs to assist Physicians in diagnosing diseases and assessing organ function. This role involves performing technical functions to ensure the highest quality of diagnostic imaging while maintaining safe and efficient processes.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrating a high level of professionalism, tact, and courtesy while explaining procedures to patients to alleviate concerns and secure their cooperation.
  • Preparing and positioning patients for examinations.
  • Selecting appropriate equipment for ultrasound procedures based on examination specifications. Adjusting transducer settings and equipment controls according to the organ being examined and other test requirements.
  • Operating equipment to generate images of internal organs and documenting diagnostic information on various media.
  • Manually moving the transducer over the designated area of the body and monitoring the sound wave display to ensure optimal image quality.
  • Capturing images of organs displayed on the monitor or retrieving printouts to maintain a permanent record of the examination.
  • Entering test data and patient information into the ultrasound equipment's computer system to keep accurate records of results.
  • Training and orienting new staff members.
  • Performing additional related duties as required.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.


Grade 864

Basic Qualifications: Experience
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of continuous ultrasound experience within the last six (6) years, with no more than one (1) year gap in experience within the last four (4) years.
Education
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
License, Certification, Registration Candidates must hold three certifications from the following list:
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Pediatric Sonography Certification
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Fetal Echocardiography Certification
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Pediatric Echocardiogram Certificate
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Breast
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn
  • Basic Life Support Certification
Additional Requirements:
  • NT certification is necessary for conducting genetic screenings in Prenatal Diagnostic Centers. Candidates may be hired without this certification but must obtain it within 90 days of employment.
