Position Overview
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will engage in a range of engineering and design tasks under the guidance of experienced engineering professionals. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and innovative, with the capacity to handle multiple responsibilities effectively. Collaboration and a commitment to sustainability and innovation are key in this dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Utilize various engineering software for mechanical design tasks.
  2. Conduct selections and detailed designs for HVAC systems.
  3. Specify and select mechanical devices and equipment.
  4. Review submittals and shop drawings, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
  5. Document modifications and clarifications regarding project scope, schedule, and budget; keep the project team informed.
  6. Analyze data and prepare recommendations, summaries, and cost estimates for senior engineers and management.
  7. Draft technical reports to document engineering analyses and findings.
  8. Conduct feasibility assessments for proposed systems and equipment.
  9. Assist senior engineers in evaluating design and development plans and cost estimates.
  10. Assess engineering solutions, equipment, and specifications.
  11. Serve as a technical mentor to junior staff involved in projects.
  12. Coordinate and communicate effectively with colleagues across various disciplines while receiving guidance from project leads.
  13. Participate actively in design and construction project team meetings.
  14. Implement quality assurance procedures throughout the design process.
  15. Propose creative solutions to design challenges.
  16. Perform load calculations, detailed engineering designs, compliance analyses, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  17. Modify standard material and construction specifications to align with project needs.
  18. Demonstrate the ability to implement designs within a BIM environment.
  19. May act as a field engineer during construction, conducting site visits and documenting observations.
  20. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. 3 to 6 years of design experience in a consulting engineering or design-build setting.
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
  4. General knowledge of contract and construction documentation.
  5. Familiarity with codes, standards, and engineering/construction processes.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, and other engineering analysis tools.
  7. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  8. Professional Engineer (PE) Certification is preferred.
  9. LEED Accreditation is a plus.
