Key Responsibilities

  • Execute mechanical design projects using various engineering software tools.
  • Conduct HVAC system selections and detailed design work.
  • Identify and specify mechanical equipment and devices.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings; ensure prompt and accurate responses to requests for information (RFIs).
  • Document modifications and clarifications regarding project scope, schedule, and budget; provide guidance to the project team.
  • Analyze data and prepare recommendations, summaries, and cost estimates for senior engineers and management review.
  • Draft technical reports to capture engineering analyses and findings.
  • Perform feasibility assessments for proposed systems and equipment.
  • Support senior engineers in evaluating design and development plans and/or cost estimates.
  • Assess engineering solutions, equipment, and specifications.
  • Serve as a technical mentor to junior staff assigned to projects.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues across various disciplines, receiving direction from project leads.
  • Participate actively in design and construction project team meetings.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures during the design phase (e.g., Design Criteria submissions, Design Checklists, Interdisciplinary Coordination Schedules, etc.)
  • Propose innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Conduct load calculations, detailed engineering design, compliance analysis, and prepare reports.
  • Modify standard material and construction specifications to align with project requirements as part of the specification preparation process.
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement designs in a Building Information Modeling (BIM) environment.
  • May take on field engineering responsibilities during construction by conducting site visits and preparing written reports of observations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Profile

  • At least 6 years of design experience in a consulting engineering or design-build setting.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment with tight project deadlines.
  • General knowledge of contract and construction documentation.
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, and engineering/construction processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, and other engineering analysis and compliance software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Certification is preferred.
  • LEED Accreditation is a plus.
