They provide high-speed capabilities without compromising on programmability, buffering, power efficiency, scalability, or feature flexibility.

As part of our team, you will contribute to the development of groundbreaking next-generation network devices built with Cisco Silicon OneTM.

Your Role


In this position, you will join the platform engineering mechanical team.

Your responsibilities will include working on both current and future mechanical designs for telecom systems. Key Responsibilities:
• Design and deliver next-generation chassis and cards that meet system product specifications.

• Conduct detailed 2D tolerance analysis for complex electro-mechanical assemblies using spreadsheets or 3D tolerance analysis tools like CETol.

• Develop innovative mechanical solutions utilizing materials such as sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast, ensuring compliance with EMI, safety, and regulatory standards.

• Create 3D CAD models using tools like Creo or NX.

• Generate detailed drawings applying Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning (GD&T) principles.


• Collaborate closely with the manufacturing team and suppliers to resolve issues, develop mitigation strategies, and keep management informed.


• Work alongside cross-functional teams (HW, SI, CAD, Thermal, Manufacturing, etc.) to negotiate requirements and assess technical risks and trade-offs.

• Partner with thermal engineers to design and implement effective cooling solutions.

Collaboration


You will work closely with our Mechanical/Thermal group, a dedicated team founded on principles of innovation, teamwork, open communication, and customer success.

Additionally, you will engage cross-functionally with Hardware Engineering, Product Management/Marketing, Product Operations, Global Supplier Management (GSM), External Vendors/Suppliers, Manufacturing Operations, and EMS/JDM partners.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 7+ years of experience in designing electronic enclosures.

• Proficiency in 3D MCAD tools (Creo/NX).

• Experience in sheet metal design.

• Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 4+ years of experience in designing electronic enclosures.

• Relevant experience in the mechanical design of computer/networking systems.

• Prior knowledge of manufacturing tooling for sheet metal, plastic, and die-casting.

• Experience in designing plastic and die-cast components.

• Proficiency in performing static and dynamic analysis using tools such as Creo Simulate or ANSYS.

• Experience in tolerance analysis, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and statistical analysis.

• Familiarity with Model-Based Definition (MBD).

This role requires a significant onsite presence.
