Biomedical Research Contracts Specialist

The Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a highly skilled Contracts Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide technical assistance to scientific and administrative staff with grant and contract development and administration for Federal, private and industry sponsors.
The Contracts Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Institute policies and Federal regulations with regard to grants and contracts. This includes reviewing and negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing guidance on contract administration.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Federal regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and federal cost principles contained in OMB Circulars A-122, A-133 and A-110. Knowledge of grant and contract policies of major funding agencies, particularly NIH and DOD, is also highly desirable.
The Contracts Specialist will work closely with the research team to ensure that contracts are properly administered and that research projects are completed on time and within budget.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will also have a strong understanding of computer systems, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance to scientific and administrative staff with grant and contract development and administration
- Ensure compliance with Institute policies and Federal regulations with regard to grants and contracts
- Review and negotiate contracts
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provide guidance on contract administration

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Public/Business Administration, or a directly related area
- 1-4 years of directly related experience
- Strong understanding of Federal regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and federal cost principles contained in OMB Circulars A-122, A-133 and A-110
- Knowledge of grant and contract policies of major funding agencies, particularly NIH and DOD
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong understanding of computer systems, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Cost Point, Banner, or other similar software package
- Experience in a scientific research environment
- Training in government acquisitions, and/or Shipley or equivalent proposal development principles
Salary:
Salary is commensurate with experience.
