Job Title: Humane Society Executive Director

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Executive Director to lead our Humane Society team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving our mission and vision forward, ensuring the effective operation of our shelter, and promoting animal welfare in our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shelter Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of our shelter, ensuring the well-being, health, and safety of all animals.
  • Staff Management and Leadership: Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Fundraising and Financial Management: Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure financial resources for shelter operations, programs, and capital projects.
  • Community Outreach and Education: Develop and maintain relationships with local government entities, animal welfare organizations, and community stakeholders to promote collaboration and advocacy for animal welfare.
  • Strategic Planning and Governance: Collaborate with our Board of Directors to establish the organization's strategic direction, goals, and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, animal science, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience (5+ years) including staff supervision, fundraising, and community outreach.
  • Knowledge of animal welfare principles, industry best practices, laws/regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, the ability to engage stakeholders, build partnerships, and advocate for animal welfare.
