Associate Director of Residential Experience

The Associate Director of Residential Experience (ADRE) is a full-time, 12-month professional member in the Office of Residence Life & Housing. The ADRE has primary responsibility for the college's residential experience model and program, including primary and indirect supervision of the hall staff, overseeing the recruitment, hiring, and training of student resident assistants, and developing, implementing, and assessing a residential experience aligned with the College's Mission and divisional learning outcomes. The ADRE serves as a departmental liaison to the Office of Student Involvement, the Office of Campus Recreation, the Office of Community Standards and Student Integrity, and the Office of Student Wellness. The ADRE provides general support and assistance to the department and the Director of Residence Life as needed. The ADRE serves in the administrator on-call duty rotation, requiring sound judgment and effective communication and problem-solving skills. The ADRE also serves on various college and division committees as needed. The successful hire has the option to live on campus in a 2-bedroom furnished staff apartment within a college residence hall.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Manage the development and implementation of a residential experience model that provides opportunities for group and individual development congruent with the mission of the College.
- Supervision, training, evaluation, and development of the Hall Staff with daily interactions to provide support, guidance, and feedback and holding weekly supervisory meetings.
- Manage and provide leadership of an inclusive, comprehensive selection, training, and development program for all professional, graduate, and student staff members.
- Develop and maintain documents pertaining to recruitment, selection, training, and development, including, but not limited to, Google sites, manuals, forms, staff files, and promotional materials for professional and paraprofessional staff. Manage and update the department's Standard Operating Guidelines for the department related to the residential experience.
- Promote positive professional staff and RA morale; coordinate appreciation and recognition efforts. Provide professional development opportunities for staff.
- Lead assessment of department initiatives and the reporting of the collected data.
- Engage a diverse student body and staff in fostering a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes connection to campus life, while maintaining high-levels of customer-service for students, parents, and campus partners.
- Oversee RHA Council and their training, in collaboration with the Hall Staff.
- Serve as student conduct hearing officer, update database and information associated with each case.
- Serve in the administrator on-call rotation.
- Serve on college committees as designated by the Director of Residence Life & Housing.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life and Housing and/or the Senior Associate Dean of Students.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in higher education or related field required.
- Four to six years of leadership experience in student development, preferably in residential programs.
- The person should be self-directed, organized, and enjoy working with college students.
- Must be open to the special mission of a Catholic and Jesuit liberal arts college.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, exempt-level position with a salary range of $55,000-$60,000. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees. The College also offers a competitive benefits package for full-time staff, including:
