Job Summary

The Director of Business Development, Legal, Compliance, and Risk is a key member of our team at BDO USA, responsible for driving sales performance and identifying new business opportunities. This role requires a strong network of C-Suite and legal market contacts, as well as the ability to develop and execute business development plans.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop New Revenue Opportunities: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in line with our firm's business strategies, focusing on attorneys, corporate counsel, compliance, and risk professionals.
  2. Build and Maintain Relationships: Establish and maintain a strong network of C-Suite and legal market contacts to drive new business opportunities.
  3. Business Development Planning: Create and execute business development plans in conjunction with Advisory Principals and Managing Directors, focusing on services relevant to the target market.
  4. Identify Business Development Activities: Identify necessary business development activities to drive opportunities and define cross-selling and key account programs.
  5. Collaborate with Practice Leaders: Facilitate monthly meetings with Regional BD Directors and practice leaders to design, implement, and report on business development/marketing plans.
  6. Market Research and Analysis: Work alongside practice leaders to understand service capabilities and report back to the team on market perceptions, competitor activity, and market pulse.
  7. Progress Reporting: Distribute business development plans, goals, and progress reports to Advisory practice leaders each quarter for feedback.
  8. Pipeline Management: Facilitate the monthly production of a pursuit/pipeline report.
  9. Compliance and Risk Management: Direct practice strategies and resources to improve sales effectiveness and maintain compliance with national processes.
  10. Negotiation and Pricing: Work alongside Principals to negotiate pricing and overall delivery of services with prospects.
  11. Process Improvement: Provide feedback to National Business Development Services on processes, templates, tools, etc.
  12. Collaboration with BDO Alliance: Coordinate with BDO Alliance USA and BDO International member firms on initiatives, as appropriate.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred (JD, MBA).
  2. Experience: 15 or more years of business development/marketing experience in a professional services environment required; prior experience working in an accounting, financial consulting, business advisory services, and/or banking industry preferred.
  3. Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with a proven track record of generating C-Suite level relationships required; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and a CRM tool required.
Compensation

Individual salaries are determined after consideration of numerous factors, including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000.
