Job Title: Teacher & Family Advocate

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher & Family Advocate to join our team at EOCFWA - Educational Opportunities for Children and Families. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive early childhood education and family support services to children and families served in Head Start, Early Head Start, and/or ECEAP programs.

Job Summary

The Teacher & Family Advocate will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive early childhood education and family support services. This includes assessing children's needs, developing individualized goals, and tracking progress. You will also establish helping relationships with families and work cooperatively with staff members and clients from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities
  • Observe and assess children to identify their educational needs and develop individualized goals.
  • Prepare the classroom environment to meet the educational needs of each child.
  • Track each child's progress and incorporate the information into the curriculum.
  • Establish helping relationships with families and family members from varying cultural, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Work cooperatively with staff members and clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Use the team approach to resolving problems or conflicts.
  • Demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development, ECE, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 30 quarter credits in ECE.
  • One year of paid experience providing early childhood education and/or case management services for children 3-5 years old and their families.
  • Knowledge of principles of child development, early childhood curriculum planning, and current best practices in early childhood development and education.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff members and clients from diverse backgrounds.
