POSITION OVERVIEW


Apptronik is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to spearhead the design of innovative robotic systems, emphasizing Design for Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Sourcing, Serviceability, and Cost Efficiency.

This role is hands-on, bridging the gap between engineering and manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust educational background in engineering, coupled with substantial experience in the assembly and manufacturing of intricate electro-mechanical systems.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Champion the principles of Design for Manufacturing, quality, sourcing, servicing, and cost management by:

1. Minimizing product part count and/or BOM expenses.

2. Identifying opportunities to redesign machined (CNC) components into singular cast and post-processed parts.

3. Collaborating with plastic manufacturing teams to develop custom injection molded components.

4. Reengineering products to decrease the number of service/wear items and enhance their serviceability.

Conducting Manufacturing Readiness Assessments:

Scrutinize engineering drawings and technical documentation to confirm all specifications are fulfilled prior to transitioning to the technical assembly and supply chain teams.

Facilitate and oversee the transition of new products and processes from engineering to manufacturing and supply chain operations.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


This position demands an individual who is willing to engage directly in developing, testing, and refining assembly processes - mechanical expertise and intuition are essential.

Proficiency in a contemporary electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.

Experience in DFX (design for manufacturing, quality, sourcing, service, and cost).

Familiarity with FMEA, DOE, and continuous process improvement methodologies.

Proficient in 3D CAD software.

Exceptional problem-solving and project management capabilities.

Adept at thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

Strong computer skills; experience with SAAS tools and cloud-based applications is crucial.

Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.

Outstanding oral and written communication skills; capable of engaging with internal teams, clients, vendors, and more.

Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, with a talent for fostering teamwork.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or New Product Introduction (from prototype to volume ramp-up).

Experience in Robotics or Automation is preferred.

Any fabrication skills (CNC/manual machining, welding, laser cutting, additive manufacturing, etc.).

Demonstrated design work and project portfolios showcasing relevant designs.

Industry-standard certifications in DF are preferred.

Prior experience in project management, including responsibility for schedule and budget.
