Job Overview

Kansas Action for Children is seeking an Environmental Sustainability Engineer to enhance our team. This pivotal role within our Operations Technology division necessitates robust collaboration across various departments including Operational Sites, Process Technology Experts, Environmental Health & Safety, Finance, and Commercial Teams.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

  • Lead ISO-compliant Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for our products, encompassing Life Cycle Inventory (LCI), Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA), and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF).
  • Work closely with Operations Technology teams to gather and evaluate manufacturing data from our production facilities.
  • Provide analytical support for various LCA-related inquiries and requests.
  • Ensure thorough vetting and validation of LCA documentation regarding processes, data, and outcomes.
  • Assist in developing stewardship communication strategies for both internal and external audiences.
  • Support initiatives aimed at environmental enhancement, including energy efficiency, renewable resources, water conservation, and waste management.
  • Maintain and update LCA software and databases.
  • Stay informed on the latest research, industry trends, and methodologies related to life cycle assessments.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations to share knowledge and leverage advancements in the LCA field.
  • Utilize computer applications for data analysis, summarization, and presentation of results.
  • Exhibit initiative and critical thinking skills, working effectively both independently and within teams.
  • Organize and manage diverse projects efficiently.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in process or environmental engineering within relevant industries.
  • Experience in developing and using chemical process simulation models.
  • A willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • An advanced degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
  • Experience with industrial LCA modeling and dedicated LCA software.
  • Certification in LCA or familiarity with specific software tools.
  • Experience in automation or the application of AI to enhance operational efficiency.
