Position Summary:

As a Human Resources Specialist, you will be instrumental in facilitating HR operations and ensuring the efficient execution of all human resources functions. With a background of 3-5 years in HR, you will possess knowledge in benefits management, compliance with regulations, policy formulation, and employee engagement. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of HR best practices, outstanding customer service abilities, and the capacity to excel in a dynamic workplace.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of HR initiatives related to benefits management, onboarding, compensation strategies, performance evaluation, employee relations, and training.
  • Address employment-related inquiries from candidates, staff, and management, escalating complex or sensitive issues to the HR Director.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable HR laws and regulations, including AAP, FMLA, ADA, and EEOC standards.
  • Oversee employee leave management, including FMLA and ADA.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to staff, addressing questions and concerns regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
  • Assist with the onboarding and orientation of new employees, ensuring a welcoming and informative experience.
  • Support employees and program managers in daily operations.
  • Assist with compliance reporting requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of organizational and departmental policies, as well as specific contract stipulations.
  • Utilize HRIS (preferably UKG) to keep accurate employee records and generate necessary reports.
  • Support learning and development efforts, including coordination of training programs and employee skill enhancement.
  • Engage in special projects as needed, leveraging HR expertise.
  • Identify and implement initiatives aimed at achieving HR excellence.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of HR experience, particularly in benefits management, compliance, and policy development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems; experience with UKG or similar software is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HR laws and regulations, especially in the government contracting sector.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Comfortable presenting in front of small groups, such as during orientations and training sessions.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all HR matters.
  • HR certification is preferred but not required (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP).
