POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES


As an integral member of a healthcare team, the Advanced Practice Nurse delivers comprehensive and/or specialized medical care, focusing on preventive measures and continuous health management for designated patient populations.

This role encompasses a diverse range of environments, from outpatient clinics to inpatient facilities. The Advanced Practice Nurse is actively involved in the treatment of patients who are well, acutely ill, or managing chronic conditions.

EDUCATION


The candidate must be a Registered Professional Nurse equipped for advanced practice through a recognized post-basic or advanced educational program approved by the Board of Nurse Examiners.

A Master's degree in nursing is highly preferred. Eligibility to become a Medicare provider is essential, and a minimum of three years of nursing experience is advantageous.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION


The individual must hold a current Registered Nurse license in Texas and be credentialed by the State to function as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Maintenance of current AHA BLS or higher certification is required in accordance with Medical-Dental staff bylaws.

For those practicing in acute care settings, obtaining AHA ACLS certification or an equivalent advanced specialty credential as defined by the UMA Credentials Committee within a specified timeframe is mandatory.

Prescriptive authority is essential, and a valid DEA number must be secured within a designated period. Certification by a recognized national nursing organization is recommended.
