Generator Service Specialist

The Generator Service Specialist will collaborate with the Service Manager to organize their work and travel itinerary within the designated service area. Utilizing a company-provided vehicle, you will visit clients' homes to conduct repair services and preventative maintenance on residential standby generators. This role necessitates effective verbal communication and customer service skills to engage directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to clients' residences using a company vehicle.
- Engage with customers regarding arrival times, services performed, and issues resolved.
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain home generator systems.
- Adhere to technical manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and established procedures.
- Test and troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.
- Document services rendered using the electronic service management system.
- Comply with all safety protocols and regulations.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Exceptional customer service and communication abilities (both verbal and written).
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while demonstrating initiative.
- Proficient reading and comprehension skills for technical manuals, electrical diagrams, and blueprints.
- Capability to safely operate a company vehicle to various job sites.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in mechanical small engine repair.
- Familiarity with electrical wiring.
Additional Information:
While candidates with direct experience in generator repair are preferred, those with a background in small engine repair and electrical systems are also encouraged to apply, as training will be provided for individuals demonstrating strong mechanical, electrical, and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Physical capability to perform job duties, including bending, stooping, climbing, pulling, grasping, and navigating uneven surfaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Proper vision to perform mechanical repairs safely.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Must be able to drive a company vehicle to job sites.
