Position Overview:

The selected candidate for the RF SiP Module Design Engineer role will have the flexibility to work from various Skyworks locations. We are in search of engineering professionals with a strong background in designing RF/Microwave System in Package products that incorporate RFICs, LNAs, Acoustic Filters, and PAs. As a member of the RF SiP Module Design Team, you will engage in the development of cutting-edge, state-of-the-art Power Amplifiers, RF switches, LNAs, and front-end modules tailored for Automotive and IoT applications, facilitating the industry's transition to the next generation of data highways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all stages of product development, including product definition, architecture, system budgeting, transistor-level circuit design, Multi Chip Module design, layout supervision, lab debugging, and production support.
  • Lead laboratory experiments to diagnose root causes of RF and functionality-related performance issues.
  • Collaborate closely with a team of EM Design Engineers, Lab Technicians, Validation/Optimization Engineers, Test Engineers, and Package Engineers to address complex cellular RF front-end challenges.
  • Prepare documentation for prototype builds/assemblies, including Bill of Materials (BOM) and configuration matrices.
  • Conduct lab tests and summarize/analyze results of RF Front-end modules.
Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of RF principles such as impedance matching, impedance transformation, distributed systems, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth, and stability.
  • Proficient in circuit simulation tools such as Agilent ADS/GoldenGate/spectreRF and 2.5/3D EM tools like Momentum, EMX, or HFSS.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Probe Stations, Noise Figure Analyzers, and Load-pull Tuners.
  • Strong laboratory skills in data collection/analysis, debugging/tuning, and product troubleshooting.
  • A proactive team player with a strong eagerness to learn on the job.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to logically analyze complex problems, prioritize tasks, report progress, and adhere to schedules.
  • Present lab findings and root cause analyses to a broader audience, striving for optimal performance of RF Front End Modules.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 8 years of experience, or a Master's Degree with 6 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of device and process technologies, module building blocks, including Power Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers, RF Switches, Couplers, Filters, and Multi-chip Modules.
  • Familiarity with acoustic filters such as SAW and BAW filters.
  • Exposure to system architecture, circuit topology, and multi-technology circuit floorplans.
  • Good understanding of RF systems and knowledge of wireless standards including 3GPP cellular 2/3/4/5G/6G, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, and more.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $110,600 - $210,600 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
