Position Summary:

As the Systems Engineering Project Lead, you will guide a dedicated team through various system engineering and project leadership tasks associated with an upcoming Aerostat Program. The ideal candidate will act as the primary system engineer and technical lead for a small, cross-functional engineering team. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including requirements analysis, hardware and software design, system integration, testing, evaluation, and verification of system and subsystem requirements, along with occasional field support for system refurbishment and reactivation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute system integration tasks, including analysis, design, prototyping, integration testing, and documentation, as well as evaluating payloads, support electronics, and implementing changes to the Aerostat Platform.
  • Participate in all necessary Design Reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR.
  • Develop and maintain system and subsystem requirements documentation (SSS, SRS, and HRS).
  • Create and manage system and subsystem test plans and procedures, along with system acceptance test plans.
  • Conduct system verification and validation while managing the overall system development and engineering processes.
  • Assess risks and implement risk management strategies for all engineering deliverables.
  • Perform trade studies and analyses to support the development of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Engineering Service Requests (ESRs).
  • Facilitate regular project team meetings and coordinate project activities to ensure timelines and objectives are met.
  • Address and resolve project blockers and conflicts across teams and organizations.
  • Provide insights and support to the Aerostat Technical Lead (Chief Engineer) regarding programmatic decisions related to project execution, including resource allocation to mitigate critical issues.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in system and subsystem requirements analysis, development, documentation, and validation of integrated systems, particularly in Aerospace/Defense or commercial sectors.
  • At least 4 years of direct experience in system and subsystem requirements analysis and development.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership role (e.g., Scrum Master, Product Owner, Engineering Team Lead) within integrated systems, aerospace/defense, or commercial environments.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current or ability to obtain a U.S. DOD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
