Position: Lead Civil Engineering Specialist

Reports to: Office Manager

We seek a community-focused professional committed to improving the infrastructure of urban environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, be self-driven, and possess the ability to manage tasks efficiently while adhering to project timelines.

The candidate should be capable of working autonomously while remaining open to constructive feedback from supervisors. Strong analytical skills are essential for devising effective solutions to engineering challenges.

Technical Duties:

Oversee and/or execute civil engineering design projects, which include civil site plans, zoning permit applications, subdivision/consolidation plans, stormwater and sanitary sewer design, site grading, stormwater management, soil erosion control, and traffic management.

Develop site designs that comply with the local stormwater management guidelines. Familiarity with the design criteria for stormwater management is crucial.

Create plans that adhere to municipal codes and regulations. Knowledge of zoning and construction permitting processes, as well as requirements from local planning commissions, is necessary.

Prepare technical specifications, conduct quantity take-offs, and generate cost estimates. Additionally, develop construction timelines.

Compile design study reports and deliverables. Engage directly with clients to ensure project alignment.

Occasionally lead fieldwork activities with internal and external teams.

Assist in formulating design scopes and associated fee estimates, contributing to business development initiatives.

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, including engineers and technical assistants.

Stay updated with the latest design standards and technologies.

Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite is required to fulfill project obligations.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Candidates should exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Collaboration and effective communication skills are essential for working within a team.

Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while adhering to budgets and schedules is critical.

Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary is expected.

Familiarity with company policies and procedures is required to ensure compliance.

Daily time tracking is mandatory.

Educational Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a Professional Engineering license is preferred.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite is essential.

Experience:

8 to 12 years of experience in civil engineering, particularly in site development.

A solid understanding of the land development process is necessary, with experience in urban development being highly valued.
