About the Role

Capital One is seeking a highly skilled Director of Technical Program Management to lead our Enterprise Data and Machine Learning (EDML) division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for spearheading strategic initiatives to enhance data management, drive innovation, and optimize operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee complex technical projects, aligning cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, leveraging your expertise in program management and technical acumen to drive transformative initiatives that propel Capital One's data capabilities forward.
  • Lead high-impact projects, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data management within the organization.
  • Pave the way for an expanding TPM discipline within the team, leveraging your industry knowledge and experience to teach the organization what a great TPM can achieve.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs
  • Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
  • A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker
  • Experience as a TPM leader to grow and develop a team of TPMs, while also building the foundations for the TPM practice
  • Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives
  • Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results
  • Exceptional cross-team collaboration; able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done
  • Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners
