Overview

As a key Business Development Manager for Westlake Commercial (the Commercial Division of Westlake Hardware), your primary responsibility will be to drive incremental sales while inspiring and guiding store teams through exemplary leadership. Your mission will be to cultivate a sales-oriented culture within these locations, fostering sustainable and predictable sales growth for our business clientele.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement
  • Identify and pursue commercial sales opportunities with businesses and multifamily property management clients, collaborating with the Director of Commercial Business, District Manager, and Store General Managers.
  • Focus on enhancing sales with established commercial accounts through relationship-driven sales techniques. Leverage reporting and customer shopping behaviors to maximize growth potential.
  • Exercise discretion in establishing special pricing, custom orders, and tailored solutions within defined parameters.
  • Target new commercial customer opportunities that are relevant and have demonstrated potential for growth.
  • Work alongside local store teams to develop new and existing commercial accounts through various marketing initiatives, events, and personalized merchandise selections.
  • Engage in local trade shows and participate in client-sponsored meetings.
Team Collaboration
  • Serve as a liaison between commercial customers and store team members, including the General Manager and sales associates.
  • Coach and train store personnel on best practices for engaging business customers and understanding B2B fundamentals.
  • Support store teams in fostering a B2B-centric approach, enhancing relationships with both new and existing commercial accounts.
  • Assist store leadership in nurturing a culture that promotes commercial sales growth, collaborating with the store GM and B2B Champion to integrate recommended practices into daily operations.
  • Work with store staff to ensure timely fulfillment of B2B product needs and customer expectations.
  • Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field (or 5+ years of relevant experience).
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, relationship sales, inventory management, and business principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders, along with strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and motivate others to perform enthusiastically.
  • Capable of delivering training across all levels within the store.
  • Ability to assess the local competitive landscape and devise effective B2B strategies.
  • Proficient leadership, communication (both written and verbal), and attention to detail.
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and travel as needed.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 50lbs), and climb as required.
