General Overview

As a successful Business Development Manager within Westlake Commercial (the Commercial Division of Westlake Hardware), your role will encompass not only driving incremental sales but also inspiring and guiding store teams through exemplary leadership. Your primary objective will be to cultivate a sales-oriented culture that fosters sustainable and predictable sales growth among our business clientele.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement
  • Identify and pursue commercial sales opportunities with businesses and multifamily property management clients, collaborating with the Director of Commercial Business, District Manager, and Store General Managers.
  • Enhance sales with established commercial accounts through relationship-driven sales techniques, leveraging reporting and shopping patterns to maximize growth.
  • Exercise discretion in establishing special pricing, orders, and tailored solutions within set guidelines.
  • Target new commercial customer opportunities that demonstrate significant growth potential.
  • Work alongside local store teams to develop and promote new and existing commercial accounts through various marketing strategies, events, and merchandise selection.
  • Participate in local trade shows and client-sponsored meetings to enhance business relationships.
Team Collaboration
  • Serve as a liaison between commercial customers and store team members, including General Managers and sales associates.
  • Coach and train store teams on best practices for engaging business customers and understanding B2B fundamentals.
  • Support store personnel in fostering a B2B-centric approach, strengthening relationships with commercial accounts.
  • Assist store leadership in nurturing a culture that encourages commercial sales growth, partnering with store GMs and B2B Champions to integrate B2B strategies into daily operations.
  • Collaborate with store staff to ensure prompt fulfillment of B2B product needs and customer demands.
  • Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of retail operations, relationship sales, inventory management, and business principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective engagement, along with negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to inspire teamwork and collaboration, motivating both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capability to deliver training across all store levels.
  • Competence in assessing the local competitive landscape and formulating effective B2B strategies.
  • Proficient leadership, communication (both written and verbal), and attention to detail.
  • Advanced PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and travel as necessary.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, lift (up to 50lbs), and climb as required.
