Job Summary

The Patient Access Specialist is a critical role within the Crystal Clinic, responsible for ensuring seamless patient access to our services. This position requires a unique blend of technical skills, customer service expertise, and business acumen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Registers patients accurately and efficiently, maintaining the integrity of patient data in our electronic health records system.
  • Conducts patient/guarantor interviews, explaining hospital policies, financial responsibilities, and patient rights and responsibilities.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility for upcoming patient appointments, utilizing automated systems and making phone calls as necessary.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information, adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Provides technical guidance to staff, evaluates their learning experience, and makes recommendations for performance improvements.
  • Facilitates training and orientation for new staff members, providing continuing education and training sessions as needed.
  • Acts as a mentor, coach, and role model, promoting patient access initiatives and leading by example in customer service.
  • Provides financial counseling services for patients who are uninsured, under-insured, or scheduled for surgery.
  • Recruits, registers, and trains patients on how to use our patient portal systems.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree or progress towards degree preferred.
  • One year of demonstrated experience in customer service or patient access related functions, including patient registration, scheduling, and verification.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, cash handling, multitasking, and excellent computer skills.
