Position Objective:
Deliver exceptional customer service to our patrons and donors while ensuring a tidy and organized shopping environment. Accurately manage each transaction.

  • Maintain a professional appearance, consistently adhering to the dress code.
  • Effectively manage the cash drawer, including opening, closing, and balancing.
Follow all monetary handling protocols set by The Salvation Army.
  • Gain proficiency in the Point of Sale system to complete transactions efficiently.
Mastery of the system should be achieved within the first three months of employment.
  • Ensure a clean and organized workspace at the cash register and throughout the store.
This includes cleaning, organizing, restocking, and maintaining order as needed.
  • Exhibit a friendly demeanor, welcoming customers and offering assistance.
  • Adhere to all policies regarding merchandise sales.
  • Keep the sales floor well-stocked and display new merchandise appropriately.
Strive to meet daily production goals as required. Flexibility in scheduling is essential.

Minimum Qualifications:
The qualifications listed below represent the minimum education, experience, certifications, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education:
High School Diploma or currently pursuing.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with customers, management, and colleagues.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with the Point of Sale system and other programs utilized by The Salvation Army.
  • Capability to provide accurate change.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the duties of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform essential functions.

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, handle, or feel, and communicate verbally.

The employee frequently walks and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment:
The work setting for this position is a retail environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. The space may be dusty and experience temperature variations based on weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather elements. This role may be full-time or part-time and will require availability during weekends and evenings.

Compensation:
$15.80/hr.
