Position Overview
The Culinary Instructor will collaborate with the Executive Culinary Director to foster a safe and productive learning atmosphere for students. This role involves teaching comprehensive culinary skills, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food quality, while overseeing daily cafe operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Student Development & Guidance (50%)
- Facilitate back-of-house student training, contributing to the culinary curriculum and leading initial kitchen training sessions throughout the program.
- Serve as a role model, demonstrating professionalism, strong work ethic, organization, and sanitation practices.
- Encourage a safe, inclusive, and engaging work environment.
- Maintain transparent communication with students and the program team.
Cafe Performance & Community Interaction (20%):
- Track menu sales in collaboration with the Culinary and Operations teams.
- Provide insights to enhance marketing strategies aimed at boosting sales.
- Build and nurture guest relationships to encourage repeat patronage.
- Support off-site catering initiatives as required.
Kitchen Management (30%)
- Establish and uphold service standards within the kitchen.
- Manage supply ordering and stock level maintenance.
- Assist with scheduling, menu creation, cost management, inventory control, and compliance with health regulations.
- Oversee family meal preparation and the development of specials, ensuring effective product utilization and cleanliness in storage areas.
- Ensure facilities and equipment are maintained according to health standards.
