Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our team at Momofuku Noodle Bar - Columbus Circle. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for managing the line, ensuring efficient service, and mentoring junior staff members. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your culinary skills, creativity, and leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and maintain standard kitchen operating procedures
- Manage kitchen employees, including training, mentoring, and disciplining
- Support and manage prep for service, ensuring all items meet our high standards
- Oversee the line during service, monitoring cooks' progress and flow of service
- Work with the Executive Chef to create new menu items and daily specials
- Assist in interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new kitchen staff members
- Monitor the receiving of all products to ensure they meet our quality standards
- Develop new menu items in partnership with the Executive Chef and CDC
- Schedule staff and assist with payroll-related tasks
- Send daily service reports, reservations logs, and HR-related documents
- Manage inventory and costs with the Executive Chef and CDC
- Support staffing needs for open positions
- 5+ years of high-volume kitchen experience
- 3+ years of management experience
- Experience with back-of-house administrative and managerial duties
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proven ability to teach and mentor kitchen staff
- Exceptional communication and supervisory skills
The physical demands of this position include seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
