Overview

The Philadelphia Housing Authority is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Housing Program Coordinator. This role involves overseeing quality assurance for transactions conducted by Leasing Coordinators while managing a portfolio of clients. The position may also include special projects aimed at achieving departmental objectives.

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $49,576.25.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Social Work, or a related discipline, along with at least one year of relevant experience. Alternatively, a combination of education and experience may be considered. A minimum of two years of experience in Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, or similar federally-assisted housing programs is required.

Knowledge Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of:

  • HUD regulations and other applicable federal, state, and local laws related to Housing Quality Standards.
  • Principles and practices of assisted housing and Housing Choice Voucher management.
  • Federal and State regulations governing public housing and the Fair Housing Act.
  • Resident selection processes and the socio-economic challenges associated with public housing.
  • Methods for maintaining records related to rent collection, leasing, and inspections.
  • Management, organization, and administrative principles.
  • Conflict resolution techniques.
  • General office practices and standard computer applications.

Skills Required

Successful candidates will possess skills in:

  • Coordinating operations and administrative tasks effectively.
  • Understanding and applying HUD regulations and agency policies.
  • Utilizing standard and specialized software for data management.
  • Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with diverse groups.

Licensing and Certification

Candidates must complete the EIV Security and User Training Certification exams within their first year of employment, as well as the HCV Specialist certification exam.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Manager, the Housing Program Coordinator will:

  • Oversee and monitor the activities of Leasing Specialists and team members.
  • Assist with special projects to align with departmental goals.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of staff transactions and collaborate on corrective action plans.
  • Communicate professionally with applicants, participants, landlords, and colleagues.
  • Address customer inquiries and provide necessary assistance.
  • Maintain accurate client files and documentation.
  • Prepare correspondence and reports to keep management informed.
  • Stay updated on trends in property management.
