HVAC Service & Business Development Manager (Salary / Exempt)

Normal Hours: 7:00AM to 4:00PM Monday-Friday

Reports to: VP Service & Special Projects

Direct Reports: HVAC Technicians, Service Coordinators, Operational Admin.

Salary: $120,000 to $150,000 annual depending on experience

Area: All of DFW Metroplex


Job Overview:

The primary role of the HVAC Service and Business Development Manager is to enhance commercial HVAC sales growth through strategic promotional initiatives, comprehensive employee and customer training, and precise quoting systems and design. This position emphasizes collaboration with sales management, technicians, suppliers, and H&G staff to ensure exceptional support, thereby maximizing program promotion and driving sales. The manager will oversee the daily operations of all service technicians, focusing on training, development, service fleet management, and the overall growth and profitability of the commercial HVAC service division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit outstanding leadership by fostering a culture of excellence while managing a team of HVAC technicians, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Provide mentorship and training to enhance team members' skills and support their professional growth.
  • Collaborate with the service coordinator to identify, organize, and manage the HVAC Services Division workload, including scheduling and prioritizing manpower and materials to meet completion schedules and profitability targets.
  • Recruit and onboard skilled field technicians.
  • Oversee the training and development initiatives for the Service Department.
  • Develop and implement strategies to boost sales volume and profitability, including promoting HVAC service capabilities to prospective clients.
  • Prepare and assist with estimates for equipment, materials, projects, and services, developing proposals for client presentations based on site reviews and project analyses.
  • Monitor ongoing job cost accounting to facilitate timely reviews of effectiveness and profitability.
  • Establish and manage the Service 'On-Call' schedule for emergency dispatching.
  • Support Service Technicians by providing necessary technical assistance.
  • Effectively communicate customer issues with relevant company personnel and suppliers.
  • Maintain regular communication with all stakeholders to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, particularly those related to workplace professionalism and productivity.
  • Review and approve personnel timesheets and monitor field reports for accuracy.
  • Coordinate inventory management, including the HVAC Services vehicle fleet.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and salary reviews in collaboration with the VP Service.
  • Regularly visit job sites to monitor service quality.
  • Conduct follow-ups with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction with all aspects of the transaction.
  • Aim to achieve company objectives for new account sales.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the annual company sales plan.
  • Utilize sound business judgment to recommend practical solutions to customer challenges.
  • Demonstrate proactive measures to minimize potential issues.
  • Respond promptly to critical customer service concerns.
  • Safeguard proprietary information and confidential data.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and provide solutions for performance enhancement.
  • Engage with industry trade associations.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant professional and industry-specific certifications and licenses.

Experience:

  • At least eight years of progressive experience in Mechanical Services, Temperature Controls, HVAC, and/or facilities management.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of developing and managing HVAC technician teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and results-oriented professional.
  • Dedicated to customer satisfaction and delivering high-quality service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and relevant business procedures.
  • Timely follow-up and commitment to internal and external obligations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate value and close sales while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25-30 lbs and sit for extended periods while operating business equipment.
  • Strong prioritization, organizational, multitasking, and stress management skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and MVR.
