PROGRAM AND POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Office of Information Security (OIS) spearheads the establishment of a comprehensive, modern security framework across the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, aimed at safeguarding agency services and sensitive data from evolving cyber threats, while upholding the agency's reputation.
Our approach is informed by intelligence on cyber threats, employing a risk-based strategy to allocate resources effectively across personnel, processes, and technology.
The Cybersecurity Operations team is responsible for managing access controls for the agency's data centers, databases, and public-facing applications, as well as overseeing remote access solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and oversee technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems to ensure network security.
- Configure security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Oversee the implementation of secure remote access solutions for employees and authorized personnel.
- Manage web security certificates and encryption protocols to ensure secure communications.
- Implement data loss prevention strategies to safeguard sensitive information.
- Ensure effective encryption key management for data protection.
- Design and optimize load balancing solutions for critical systems.
- Provide expertise on mobile device management to ensure secure usage within the organization.
- Participate in incident response planning and execution to mitigate cybersecurity incidents.
- Monitor and analyze security incidents, providing timely responses to vulnerabilities.
- Conduct detailed packet analysis to identify potential security threats.
- Collaborate with various teams to integrate security best practices into system development.
- Assist with security assessments and audits, recommending enhancements to our cybersecurity framework.

Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, supplemented by at least twenty-four (24) semester credits in relevant fields such as cybersecurity or information technology; or
- A high school diploma or equivalent with three years of relevant experience; or
- Equivalent education and/or experience, with college credits substituting for experience as outlined.
