Job Summary:

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is seeking a seasoned Cybersecurity Leader to oversee and manage the overall operations of the Security team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for establishing strategic plans based on the corporate strategy and inspiring others to action through a compelling vision and strategic direction.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will design, implement, and evaluate information security and disaster recovery programs, promoting information security awareness within the NAIC. This role reports to the Chief Technology Officer and requires a strong understanding of enterprise security and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the organization's information security goals and objectives.
  2. Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership and direction to multiple teams, including the Internal Security Committee (ISC), to assess security risks and recommend new or improved security measures.
  3. Risk Management: Manage change within the division and develop risk mitigation plans to minimize potential threats to the organization.
  4. Talent Development: Attract, develop, and retain talent, cultivate networks, and build partnerships through strategic influence.
  5. Cybersecurity Coordination: Coordinate with federal, state, public, and private entities, including state insurance departments, on matters of cybersecurity.
  6. Security Risk Management: Participate in the review and acceptance of security risks for the organization, communicate risks to senior leadership and the board, and coordinate annual testing of the organization's security defense.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and ten or more years of management experience in enterprise security, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree is preferred. The successful candidate will also have experience with enterprise security and a strong understanding of risk management principles.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires regular, out-of-state, overnight travel in support of member meetings and events throughout the year. The successful candidate must be able and willing to travel to locations throughout the United States and with such frequency as necessary to meet the job requirements.

Compensation and Benefits:

The NAIC offers a competitive salary range of $201,161 to $350,000, commensurate with experience and education. The organization also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
